Job summary

British Swim School is seeking a part-time Special Needs Swim Instructor to teach water safety with a gentle, play-based approach. You’ll adapt lessons for neurodiverse students, create an inclusive environment, and partner with families to track progress.

Training is provided, and the role emphasizes safety, patience, and a love of helping children learn to swim. Opportunities exist for advancement while working evenings and weekends at our Mechanicsburg, Camp Hill, and Harrisburg locations.

Qualifications

• Experience in adaptive aquatics, special education, ABA principles, or related fields.
• Calm, joyful, and patient personality.
• Comfortable in and around water; training provided.
• Interest in neurodiverse and differently-abled people.
• Reliable and able to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Teach swim and water safety to children and adults using our gentle, play-based curriculum.
• Adapt lessons to meet needs of students with autism, sensory sensitivities, anxiety, or other unique needs.
• Create a welcoming, inclusive environment for all swimmers and families.
• Support students through positive reinforcement, patience, and encouragement.
• Communicate with parents and caregivers about progress and strategies.
• Work in the water for the full duration of your shift.
