Job summary

Sun Valley Academy in Glendale is seeking an In-house Substitute Teacher to provide instruction in the absence of the regular teacher. This per-diem/contract, non-exempt role requires versatility, classroom leadership, and the ability to maintain continuity of learning.

You will follow prescribed lessons, deliver age-appropriate activities, and supervise students to foster a safe, engaging learning environment. Collaboration with staff and participation in school events are expected as needed.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Substitute Teacher Certificate.
• Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field required.
• Strong English verbal and written communication skills.
• CPR and First Aid certification obtained via in-person course.

Responsibilities

• Follow lesson plans and materials provided by the regular teacher.
• Deliver instruction suitable for the grade level and subject area.
• Maintain a positive, engaging classroom environment.
• Supervise students in classroom and common areas and manage behavior.
• Adapt instruction to meet individual student needs and classroom routines.
• Communicate student concerns to the appropriate teacher or administrator.
• Develop long-term lesson plans when assigned to a substitute role.
• Participate in school events and meetings as required.
