Job summary

Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is a premier teaching hospital known for Magnet recognition and comprehensive patient care. The role focuses on direct patient care under licensed nurses, supporting AIDLs, vital signs, and safety monitoring.

Two rotating shifts (days 7am–7:30pm and nights 7pm–7:30am) and holiday/weekend rotation are part of the schedule. A CNA license is required and on-site benefits are provided by BJC HealthCare.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Certified Nurse Assistant license is required.
• No prior experience required; on-the-job training provided.

Responsibilities

• Implements direct patient care under the supervision of the nurse, assisting with ADLs and performing tasks such as vital signs, intake/output, and urinary catheter care.
• Collects clinical data and reports changes in patient status to the nurse.
• Assists nurse with patient and family education; documents all patient care activities with medical terminology; acts as a 1:1 safety sitter when needed.
• Ensures availability of supplies and equipment to meet patient needs.
• Promotes patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance; participates in professional development.
