Job summary

Renown Health in Reno, NV is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to provide direct patient care under supervision. You will assist with activities of daily living, document vital signs, transport equipment and patients, and support the care team to ensure safety and comfort for pediatric to geriatric patients.

The role requires English proficiency, CNA or related medical experience, and BLS certification; Nevada or national EMT certification is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Education: Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform job duties safely and effectively.
  • Experience: Prior experience as CNA or in medical field preferred.
  • License(s): State of Nevada or Nationally Registered Basic EMT certification required at time of hire; may hold Advanced EMT certification for up to 60 days while awaiting movement.
  • Certification(s): Obtain and maintain BLS certification by the American Heart Association (AHA) standards required at time of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provide continuity of patient care under supervision of Unit Manager, Medical Director, Physician, or RN.
  • Obtain and document adult and pediatric vital signs accurately.

Purpose

This position is responsible for providing continuity of business operations, support functions, and direct patient care functions under the supervision of one the following: Unit Manager, Medical Director, Physician, and/or the Registered Nurse. Under direct supervision this position is responsible to provide or assist in activities of daily living, as well as emotional support to Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric patients. This position is responsible for accurately obtaining and documenting adult and pediatric vital signs, transporting of equipment/patients, patient mobilization, activities of daily living, observing patients on safety precautions, clerical responsibilities, assisting care team members with various patient care tasks, and ordering and stocking of supplies.

Nature And Scope

Within the scope established by Renown Health this position provides personal hygiene, mobility, safety and comfort, assistance with activities of daily living, and various direct patient care skills to Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric patients as directed by the Unit Manager, Medical Director, Physician, and/or the Registered Nurse. The incumbent must be knowledgeable of the uses of equipment specific to the area of employment. This position is responsible to demonstrate proficiency in body mechanics, fire safety, infection control, patient safety, quality outcomes, CPR and safe handling of hazardous materials.The incumbent assists in procedures to facilitate the proper documentation of the patient care from pre-admission to discharge. This position is challenged to maintain accuracy, communicate effectively, function effectively under stress, and identify and maintain priorities while responding simultaneously to other requests. This position is also challenged to remain courteous and tactful at all times while promoting optimal patient experience and patient outcomes.Additionally, this position must assure proper decontamination of equipment and supplies in accordance with Renown Health policies.This position does provide patient care

Minimum Qualifications

Requirements - Required and/or Preferred Name Description Education: Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform job duties safely and effectively. Medical terminology is preferred. Experience: Prior experience as CNA or in medical field preferred License(s): State of Nevada or Nationally Registered Basic Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B) certification required at time of hire; preference to be certified at both the State and National level. May hold an Advanced EMT certification for up to 60 days while awaiting movement into an open Advanced position. Certification(s): Obtain and maintain BLS certification by the American Heart Association (AHA) standards required at time of hire. Computer / Typing: Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, and Word and have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
