Job summary

Hartford Healthcare seeks an Acute Care Surgeon to deliver high-quality emergency and inpatient surgical care within our not-for-profit system. This on-site role manages trauma and complex acute conditions, coordinates care with intensivists and specialists, and supports quality and safety initiatives in a collaborative team culture.

You will participate in call coverage, supervise residents and practitioners, and document care in the EMR while adhering to hospital policies and clinical

Qualifications

• Board-certified or board-eligible in general surgery.
• Completed ACGME-accredited general surgery residency.
• Fellowship in Acute Care Surgery, Trauma, or Surgical Critical Care preferred.
• Active Connecticut medical license.
• ATLS, BLS and ACLS certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Provide emergency and acute surgical care to hospitalized patients.
• Perform operative and non-operative management of trauma and critical conditions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop treatment plans.
• Participate in call coverage for acute care and trauma services.
• Mentor residents and advanced practitioners.
• Document care in EMR and ensure compliance with hospital policies.
• Engage in quality improvement and protocol development.
• Communicate clearly with patients and families about diagnoses and options.
