Stormont Vail HealthCare, Inc. in Topeka, KS is seeking a Perioperative Nurse to provide pre-, intra-, and post-operative care within a 36-hour weekly, 12-hour night shift. You will work with a multidisciplinary team and follow surgical safety checklists and sterile technique.

The ideal candidate will hold a BSN (preferred), possess Kansas RN licensure, and have BLS certification. You will educate patients on post-operative care and contribute to post-anesthesia recovery using Aldrete scoring.

Qualifications

  • RN licensure KSBN (Kansas) or multistate license accepted.
  • BLS certification.

  • Ability to perform calculations related to medications and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Collects pertinent data and information relative to the patient, situation, or setting.

Perioperative nursing incorporates the pre-procedure care, intra operative and acute post-operative care. The Perioperative nurse will use a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to patient care. Perioperative nursing can range from routine, elective procedures to highly complex procedures to trauma. Perioperative nurses have adapted nursing process to include strict adherence to the surgical safety checklists, sterility, surgical counts and post-operative airway, pain and nausea management. Perioperative nurses will educate patients about post-operative care management and provide same day discharge instructions.Education QualificationsBachelor's Degree Bachelors of Science: Nursing (BSN) PreferredSkills and AbilitiesDemonstrates awareness and sensitivity to rights of patient/significant other, as identified within the institution.
