• Performs phlebotomy procedures according to established policies and procedures.
• Organizes assigned work and ensures the workload is completed in an accurate and timely manner.
• Maintains high specimen quality.
• Operates assigned equipment and performs maintenance as needed.
• Cross-trained and trains new team members on relevant technology.
• Performs venipunctures and capillary draws on adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients, including difficult veins.
• Verifies patient identity and labeling accuracy to prevent mislabeling.
• Maintains a sterile work environment and follows infection control protocols.
• Uses LIS/EMR to enter test orders and documentation.
• Explains procedures to patients, alleviates anxiety, and monitors comfort during draws.
• Prepares, processes, and transports specimens using pneumatic tube systems.
