Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Nursing Assistant to provide direct patient care and assist with unit coordination on an inpatient floor. The role supports RNs in caring for stable patients, performing basic nursing procedures, and ensuring patient comfort and safety while maintaining privacy and dignity.

The candidate should have a high school diploma or GED, be enrolled in ASN/BSN, have CPR certification, and be able to read, write, and follow instructions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Limited or no experience acceptable; must complete 2 weeks of training.
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to perform basic mathematics.
• Basic computer skills required.
• CPR certification (American Heart Association).
• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate required.
• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate required.
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Clearance Certificate required.
• Acute care experience within last 3 years preferred.
• Currently enrolled in ASN or BSN program; priority to those with at least one clinical rotation.

Responsibilities

• Provides and documents direct patient care and activities of daily living, vital signs, and specimen collection.
• Participates in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives (e.g., bedside shift report, hourly rounding).
• Documents vitals, weights, I&O, and treatments; reports changes to nursing staff.
• Assists with unit activities such as supply stocking and equipment cleaning.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
