Job summary

Mind Robotics Inc. is seeking an Actuator Test Engineer to build dynamometer test infrastructure and run characterization tests for robot actuators on the factory floor. You will design fixtures, apply loads, measure torque/thermal responses, and drive actuator selection decisions with rigorous data.

The role requires 3+ years of hands-on experience with electromechanical hardware, CAD design, and GD&T, plus familiarity with dynamometer setups and test rig fabrication. On-site in California, US.

Qualifications

• 3+ years hands-on testing/characterizing electromechanical or robotic hardware.
• Ability to design/build test hardware from concept through fabrication.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD and 2D drawings with GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
• Solid understanding of motors, gear transmissions, encoders, sensors, and thermal behavior.
• Experience with dynamometer setups or similar test rigs.

Responsibilities

• Design and build dynamometer test systems with mechanical driveline, load, and sensors.
• Create test fixtures/stands for actuator validation with precise fits and tolerances.
• Run tests to characterize torque, speed, efficiency, and thermal performance.
• Support integration of motors, encoders, torque sensors on test rigs.
• Generate/visualize data to guide actuator selection and sizing.
• Develop repeatable test procedures and scalable data pipelines.
• Quantify unit-to-unit variation, track drift, and flag outliers.
• Document post-test teardown findings rigorously.
