Berkshire Hathaway GUARD Insurance Companies in New York City seeks an Actuarial Data Scientist reporting to the AVP, Data Science & Commercial Lines Pricing. This role blends actuarial analytics, predictive modeling, and technical leadership to advance pricing sophistication and profitability.

You will develop models using GLMs and machine learning, collaborate with actuarial and data engineering teams, and promote best practices in governance, testing, and deployment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in a quantitative field (Actuarial Science, Statistics, Math, Data Science, CS, Economics).
• 3–5 years of experience in Actuarial Data Science in a business setting.
• Proven ability to develop predictive models and advanced analytics solutions.
• Strong Python coding skills and SQL proficiency for large datasets.

Responsibilities

• Develop pricing, segmentation, profitability, and risk models for Commercial Lines using actuarial methods and ML.
• Create scalable analytical workflows and productionize models with data engineers.
• Conduct analyses to identify trends and opportunities for profitable growth.
• Guide model governance, testing, documentation, and version control.
• Communicate findings to senior leadership and drive adoption of analytical solutions.
