Job summary

The Mutual Group in Des Moines is seeking an Actuarial Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain analytical data pipelines, models, and tools that support actuarial pricing, reserving, and claims analytics across a Property & Casualty portfolio.

You will collaborate with actuarial, data science, and finance teams to deliver reliable data solutions, with hybrid/remote options and a training period that may require in-office days.

Qualifications

• 3 to 6 years of data engineering experience with cloud-based data environments.
• Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, or R.
• Experience building automation tools or analytical frameworks.
• Experience with modern data warehousing and ETL tools.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail & data accuracy.
• Experience working with P&C insurance data preferred.
• Familiarity with actuarial data and concepts preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain analytical pipelines and tools that support actuarial analysis.
• Build and enhance data models that provide consistent, structured access to actuarial data.
• Support the development of applications and tools used in pricing, reserving, and claims analytics.
• Automation of end-to-end analytical data process flow and data quality controls.
• Assist in maintaining data lineage and documentation to support transparency.
