UnitedHealth Group’s UnitedHealthcare division is seeking a result-driven actuarial professional to support the C&S Medicaid reserving team with month-end evaluations and quantitative analyses. The role offers remote work within the U.S.

with in-office requirement in Minneapolis for four days weekly in the specified area. Responsibilities include interpreting data to identify drivers of healthcare trends, applying reserving methods, communicating results across Finance, Accounting and Actuarial,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Progress toward Associate or Fellow of SOA with 4+ exams.
  • 4+ years of Actuarial experience.
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel, including VBA.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and interpret quantitative data to identify drivers of healthcare trends.
  • Use various reserving methodologies to set monthly reserves.
  • Communicate results across Finance, Accounting, Actuarial, etc.
  • Manage and prioritize ad hoc project requests.
  • Utilize predictive modeling to enhance monthly reserving process.
  • Participate in the Actuarial Leadership Development Program (ALDP).

In this role, you will support the C&S Medicaid reserving team by performing month end financial evaluations and investigating key business problems through quantitative analyses. You will also support additional monthly and annual processes and other ad hoc requests as appropriate.

You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Analyze and interpret quantitative data to identify key drivers of healthcare trends
  • Use various reserving methodologies to set monthly reserves
  • Effectively communicate results across multiple business units (Finance, Accounting, Actuarial, etc.)
  • Manage and prioritize ad hoc project requests
  • Utilize predictive modeling to enhance monthly reserving process
  • Participate in the Actuarial Leadership Development Program (ALDP)

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Progress toward Associate or Fellow of Society of Actuaries designation, having passed four or more exams
  • 4+ years of Actuarial experience
  • Advanced or higher level of proficiency with Excel, including VBA
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in finance or reserving within the health care industry
  • Basic level of proficiency with SAS (Statistical Analysis System) and/or SQL (Structured Query Language)
  • Basic level of proficiency with Snowflake and/or Databricks

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $91,700 - $163,700 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
