Job summary

Point32Health in Canton, MA is seeking an actuarial/analytic professional to conduct analysis and data development across financial and actuarial functions, including rate reviews, financial planning, forecasting, trend analysis, and provider reimbursement analysis.

The role requires proficiency with relational databases, data warehouses, Excel and statistical modeling, plus strong verbal and written communication. Participation in the Actuarial Student Program with rotations is available.

This support will include rate reviews, financial planning and projections, trend analysis, product development, provider reimbursement analysis, fee schedule development, provider risk analysis, and medical cost containment analysis. This role will work closely with a variety of departments including underwriting, sales, contracting, and medical management.An understanding of the health insurance industry as well as proficiency in relational databases, data warehouses, Excel, and statistical modeling as well as strong interpersonal skills are required.The position is eligible to participate in the Actuarial Student Program, including job rotations every 18-36 months and comprehensive support of the pursuit of Fellowship in the Society of Actuaries.Job DescriptionKey Responsibilities/Duties – what you will be doing (top five):Planning, Design, Project/Process ManagementPerforms analytic project work assigned by manager with minimal supervisionDevelops analytic project plan to meet defined objectivesTechnical AnalysisUses Healthplan data systems and query tools to complete work projects, developing new code and tools to meet objectivesChecking/Validation/Peer ReviewDevelops criteria to validate results in light of prior expectations; investigate unusual results and offers explanationsAnalysis/InterpretationExamines and interprets results in the context of the specific business questions being addressedIdentifies new questions and/or unforeseen data complexities arising from results and takes steps to address themCommunication/Presentation of ResultsPackages results to demonstrate how the analysis meets project objectivesOther projects and duties as assigned.Qualifications – what you need to perform the jobEducation, Certification and LicensureCollege degree required.Completion of 2-4 actuarial examsExperience (minimum years required):2 - 4 years of responsible healthcare actuarial / analytic experienceExperience in the use of personal computers, relational databases, statistical packages, spreadsheet and/or database applicationsSkill RequirementsWell-developed verbal and written skillsAble to operate in a matrix environmentAble to implement Actuarial department standards and processesReceives regular management oversight of all tasks, projects, and processesApplies own judgment to limited analytical/technical issuesMust be able to work cooperatively as a team member.Demonstrated experience in analytic workProficiency in the use of personal computers, relational databases, statistical packages, spreadsheet and/or database applicationsWell-developed verbal and written skillsAbility to facilitate planning and review sessionsDeveloping presentation skills, presents mostly within department and to project teamsReceives regular management oversight of selected tasks, projects, and processesIncreasingly applies own judgment to analytical/technical issuesMust be able to work cooperatively as a team member.Regular interface with various levels of staff and management is required as well.Working Conditions and Additional Requirements (include special requirements, e.g., lifting, travel):Must be able to work under normal office conditions and work from home as required.Work may require simultaneous use of a telephone/headset and PC/keyboard and sitting for extended durations.Fast paced office environment.
