Job summary

CLARA Analytics, Inc. is seeking an Actuarial Analyst to join our Analytics team in Product. You will perform data preparation, validation, and reporting, and present findings to product, technical, and client-facing peers.

You’ll work across teams to build insights and scale analytics across the organization. Ideal candidates have 2–3 years in P&C analytics, strong SQL and BI skills, and the ability to communicate complex analyses clearly.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM or quantitative field or equivalent work experience.
  • 2–3 years of Actuarial Analyst experience in Property-Casualty (P&C) insurance or related data analytics work.
  • Strong understanding of P&C metrics and trends; able to discuss insights with diverse audiences.
  • Highly proficient in SQL for navigating complex databases and extracting clean data.
  • Experience with BI tools and data visualization best practices.
  • Excellent written and oral communication with attention to technical detail.

Responsibilities

  • Master CLARA's data ecosystem to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve data quality issues for reporting and analytics tools.
  • Perform data analysis and extract insights from large, complex data sources to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Build, maintain, and enhance standardized customer reporting to empower clients to leverage CLARA’s product suite.
  • Design and develop dashboards, reports, and visualizations on an ad hoc or recurring basis.
  • Collaborate with Product Management, Data Science, and Data Engineering to deploy analytics methods and visualizations.

The Role

Weare in search ofan ActuarialAnalyst to join our Analytics team in the Product department. In this role, you'll be responsible forperforming analysis related to client work, such as reviewing data in preparation for analysis, checking & validating data for errors and consistency, drafting reports, andmaintainingdocumentation. In addition to the tactical, you'll be given opportunities to present your findings to product, technical and client facing peers, executive leads, and even clients. Work is shared across the function, giving everyone the opportunity to build their skills andshowcasetheir abilities, and take on increasing responsibilities over time.

What You'll Do
  • Master CLARA's data ecosystem to proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve data quality issues for reporting and analytics tools.
  • Perform data analysis and extract insights from vast, complex data sources to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Build, maintain, and enhance standardized customer reporting that empowers clients to fully leverage CLARA’s product suite.
  • Design and develop visually appealing and user-friendly dashboards, reports, and visualizations on an ad hoc or recurring basis.
  • Collaborate with Product Management, Data Science, and Data Engineering to deploy relevant analytics methods & visualizations.
What We’re Looking For
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM or quantitative major (Actuarial Science, CS, Data Science, Math, Stats, Finance, Economics, etc.) or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree.
  • At least 2–3 years of Actuary experience in Property-Casualty (P&C) insurance.
  • A strong foundational understanding of how P&C insurance works, relevant core metrics, and how to analyze and discuss P&C trends.
  • Highly proficient in SQL with proven experience navigating messy, complex databases to extrapolate, clean, and analyze key data.
  • Experience with BI tools and knowledge of data and visualization best practices.
  • Superb attention to detail and technical accuracy.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity, with the ability to jump into messy, undocumented data sources to explore, validate, and leverage new insights.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to express or explain complicated technical concepts, to a variety of audiences.
Preferred
  • Start-up and/or insurtech experience.
  • Experience with or working knowledge of AI tools, specifically Claude.
  • Experience or familiarity with Sigma Computing.
  • Domain knowledge of Workers Comp, General Liability, and/or Auto.

The pay range for this role is:

110,000 - 140,000 USD per year (Remote (United States))
