Job Description
What You’ll Do:
  • Plan, direct and coordinate entire activity therapy program for special needs populations (e.g., inmates assigned to residential treatment units).
  • Plans, directs and coordinates entire general activity/recreational program for all inmates in general population
  • Develops, interprets and monitors implementation of program policies and procedures; supervise lower-level activity therapy staff.
  • Supervise lower-level activity therapy staff.
  • Prepares, maintains and oversees preparation and maintenance of work-related documentation
  • Prepares or assist in preparation of budget
  • Prepares requisitions for equipment and supplies, completes equipment and supply inventories
  • Reviews, prepares and maintains records of inmate progress, attitude and adjustment
  • Writes training manuals
  • Prepares reports regarding departmental activities and plans for problem correction
  • Conducts individual and group activity therapy activities
  • Oversees maintenance of supplies, equipment and work area
  • Approves/disapproves employee leave request
  • Prepares and completes employee performance evaluations.
  • Serves on institutional committees
  • Attends annual in-service training
  • Controls/restricts inmate movement and performs other security functions (i.e., pat down search)

Pre-Employment Drug Testing

All final applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to submit to urinalysis to test for illegal drug use prior to appointments. Testing will also be performed for the presence of marijuana.
