Job summary

Houston Behavioral Healthcare Hospital (HBHH) is seeking an experienced Activity Therapist Psychiatric to join the interdisciplinary treatment team. The role provides therapeutic recreational and activity services for patients with emotional or substance use issues, across adult, adolescent, or child populations.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, plus clinical certification and experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., recreational therapy, music therapy, art therapy, occupational therapy).
• Minimum of 2 years experience in a healthcare field; inpatient psychiatric experience preferred.
• CTRS, TRS/TXC, MT-BC, ATR, LOTR; CPR certification expected; hospital de-escalation certification upon orientation.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements activity Therapy treatment plans in concert with the interdisciplinary treatment team.
• Demonstrates sound application of AT Theory and methodology.
• Contributes effectively to discharge planning.
• Plans and prepares for activities.

Houston Behavioral Healthcare Hospital is currently recruiting for a Fulltime Activity Therapist Psychiatric.

Position:

The Activity Therapist Psychiatric Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team, to provide therapeutic recreational and activity services to adult, adolescent, or child patients under HBHH care for emotional or substance abuse problems.

• Develops and implements activity Therapy treatment plans in concert with the interdisciplinary treatment team.
• Demonstrates sound application of AT Theory and methodology
• Contributes effectively to discharge planning.
• Plans and prepares for activities.

Education:

Bachelors degree in a relevant field (e.g., recreational therapy, music therapy, art therapy, occupational therapy required.).

Certification or registration preferred. Excellent communication, assessment, evaluation, and interpretation skills. Knowledge of psychiatric and addictive disease diagnoses and treatment; flexibility; teaching or training skills helpful; understanding of, or ability to understand, DSM 5 -TR methodology.

Minimum Experience:

Minimum of 2 years experience in a healthcare field. Inpatient psychiatric experience preferred.

Requirements:

CTRS, TRS/TXC, MT-BC, ATR, LOTR. CPR(Upon completion in Orientation or have a current CPR)

and Hospital De-escalation Certification (Upon completion in Orientation)

Physical Requirements:

Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible among of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work. Activities occur inside and outside. Includes variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
