Job summary

NYC Health + Hospitals is seeking an Activity Therapist - Level I in the Bronx, NY, within the Nursing Administration team. The role focuses on directing administrative activities, supervising staff, and assisting in policy development to improve patient care operations.

Candidates should have a master’s degree in nursing administration or a BSN with relevant experience, plus supervisory nursing background.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Nursing Administration or related nursing discipline, or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing with experience.
• 3 years nursing experience with 2 in admin/supervisory, or 4 years with 3 in admin/supervisory.
• Licensed NY RN with current registration; BLS may be required.

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise staff and support departments.
• Prepare operating plans and policies/procedures.
• Study adequacy/effectiveness of administrative services.
• Prepare data for budget and reports.
• Monitor requisitioning of supplies/equipment.
• Study patient care standards and present recommendations.
• Attend staff meetings and consult with other departments.
• Represent administration in relevant functions.
• Assist in grant proposal writing and reporting.

About This Role

The Activity Therapist - Level I provides assistance in the administration and supervision of confidential activities within a group of services in the healthcare setting. This role is ideal for those with a strong background in nursing administration and supervisory experience.

What You'll Do

• Direct and supervise staff and support departments.
• Prepare operating plans and drafts of policies and procedures.
• Make studies of adequacy and effectiveness of administrative services.
• Prepare data for budget preparation and statistical reports.
• Monitor requisitioning of supplies and equipment.
• Conduct studies on patient care standards and prepare recommendations.
• Attend staff meetings and consult with other departments.
• Represent healthcare setting administration in relevant functions.
• Assist in grant proposal writing and submitting reports for funded programs.
• Perform other related duties as directed.

Requirements

Education

• Master's Degree in Nursing Administration or a related nursing discipline required, or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing with additional experience.

Experience

• Three (3) years of satisfactory nursing experience with two (2) years in a responsible administrative or supervisory capacity, or four (4) years of satisfactory nursing experience with three (3) years in a responsible administrative or supervisory capacity.

Licenses & Certifications

• Valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) may be required depending on assignment.
