Job summary

Aiken Regional Medical Centers is seeking an Activity Therapist to plan, implement, facilitate, and evaluate therapeutic activities for patients across mental health and related services. The role involves direct patient care, documentation, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team on treatment goals.

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Art, Music, Recreation Therapy or related field, have at least 1 year of psychiatric setting experience, and possess BLS certification

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Art, Music, Recreation Therapy, humanities, social work, or related therapy field.
• Minimum 1 year experience in psychiatric setting (preferred).
• BLS certification required upon hire; CPI training within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, facilitate, and evaluate therapeutic groups for patient involvement and treatment goals.
• Provide continuous patient care, observation, and role modeling; document patient responses to therapies.
• Develop, implement, and update treatment plans; ensure safe use of recreation equipment and track inventory.
• Deliver direct patient care appropriate to patients' ages; make recommendations to supervisor on new activities.

Provides continuous patient care, observation, interaction, and role modeling to patients. Documentation of patient response to therapeutic modalities is required. Service Excellence is required at all times. Job Duties Assessment of patients. Planning and facilitating therapeutic activities. Plan activities that are medical based treatment programs to help maintain or improve patient's physical, social, and emotional well-being. Documentation of patient response to therapeutic modalities. Develop, implement, and update treatment plans. Maintains assigned areas. Ensures safe use of recreation equipment and tracks inventory. Maintains adherence to DHEC requirements and monitoring for the swimming pool and other pertinent patient areas. Make recommendations to supervisor on new activities for individuals and groups. Delivers direct patient care appropriate to the ages of the patients served. Recommends the purchasing of supplies. Performs other duties as assigned.
