Job summary

Ridgeview Institute Monroe seeks an Activity Therapist to plan and deliver engaging activities for patients, contributing to treatment goals and overall well-being. You will work with an interdisciplinary team, providing continuous care, support, and positive role modeling to promote healing.

Responsibilities include observing patient conditions, documenting changes, and planning therapy activities within the facility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy, art, music, recreational therapy, humanities, or movement therapy; Master’s degree preferred; Georgia licensure or national certification in art, occupational, recreation, or music therapy.
• One year of related experience; knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques preferred.
• CPR certification and CPI training within 30 days; overtime/flexible hours may be required.

• Observe and apply sound judgment in patients' physical and mental conditions/needs.
• Document and communicate changes in patients' appearance, behavior, and progress toward treatment plan goals.
• Assess psychosocial/leisure and recreational skills development/deficiency.
• Assist patients in achieving their optimum level of independent functioning.
• Plan and implement activity therapy for assigned patient load within the facility.
• Model and teach social, coping, and stress management techniques.
• Contribute to treatment plans with specific goals and interventions in therapeutic activities.

• Provide assessment in psychosocial/leisure and recreational skills development/deficiency.
• Assist patients in achieving their optimum level of independent functioning.

• Model and teach appropriate social, coping, and stress management techniques to patients.
• Contribute to treatment plans with specific goals and interventions in therapeutic activities.

Your Experience Matters What We’re Looking For

• Education & Licensure: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in occupational therapy, art, music, recreational therapy, humanities, or movement therapy. Master’s degree preferred. Certification or licensure by the state of Georgia and/or national governing body in the following areas: art, occupational, recreation, or music therapy.
• Experience: One (1) year of related experience, with a knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with an understanding of mental illness preferred.
• Additional Skill Requirements: Successful completion of CPR Certification and CPI before assisting with restraining procedures and within 30 days of employment. May be required to work overtime and flexible hours.

Compensation

This is a full-time role, and the expected compensation is $25.00 to $25.00 hourly. We’re excited to work with qualified candidates and will consider experience and skill level. Join us as our Activity Therapist!
