Job summary

Center for Behavioral Health Maryland Heights is seeking a Full-Time Activity/Recreational Therapist for our 20-bed inpatient geriatric psychiatry unit. The role involves leading group and individual therapeutic activities, observing and documenting patient behavior, and completing assessments per policy, all within a safe, structured environment.

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in Recreational Therapy, Exercise Science, or a related field, a valid driver’s license, and at least 1 year

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Recreational Therapy, Exercise Science, or related field.
• 1+ year of recreation therapy experience in a psychiatric setting.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist - preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Lead group and individual therapeutic activities.

Our 20-bed inpatient hospital specializing in geriatric psychiatric care is looking for a dedicated Activity/Recreational Therapist to join our team. Located next to NHC HealthCare Maryland Heights, our facility serves patients with cognitive and mental health needs.

Role overview:

Lead group and individual therapeutic activities

Observe and document patient behavior and condition

Complete assessments and documentation per policy

Support a safe, structured environment for patients

Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Recreational Therapy, Exercise Science, or related field

Valid driver’s license

1+ year of recreation therapy experience in a psychiatric setting

Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist -preferred but not required

Help shape a patient-focused care model
