Summary:

The Resident Engagement Director provides active and passive, group and individual resident engagement activities that enhance mental, physical, spiritual, cultural, and social needs, enabling residents to continue an active role in society. Responsibilities include organizing, coordinating, and participating in enrichment activities for the entire resident population, as well as hiring, evaluating, supervising staff, and managing performance in accordance with LCB Senior Living policies.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:

The duties below are representative of those encountered while performing this position. This list is not exhaustive, and other duties may be assigned as needed.

  1. Promote the mission and core values of the Residence and LCB Senior Living to residents, visitors, co-workers, and the community.
  2. Actively participate in growing community occupancy through positive interactions with potential residents, families, and professionals.
  3. Manage the overall Activities Program, including administrative responsibilities.
  4. Evaluate and assess the Activities Program to identify needs and opportunities for growth.
  5. Maintain departmental budgets.
  6. Record and track resident activities and attendance.
  7. Communicate openly and timely with staff, residents, families, and management regarding the Activities Program.
  8. Coordinate and conduct resident and family functions to enhance engagement.
  9. Collaborate with the Sales and Marketing Director on community outreach and partnership development.
  10. Consult with residents and families to meet individual needs; complete resident life stories.
  11. Prepare and post monthly, weekly, and daily activity calendars.
  12. Develop and expand a volunteer program.
  13. Develop the residence newsletter.
  14. Arrange transportation and escorts for activities, including driving the community van as needed.
  15. Coordinate vehicle maintenance and repairs.
  16. Ensure staff has necessary resources to perform their duties efficiently and economically.
  17. Establish relationships with community resources and coordinate team activities to ensure quality care.
  18. Interview and train activities personnel.
  19. Conduct timely staff reviews and administer counseling, retraining, or corrective actions fairly.
  20. Review incident/accident reports, implement safety improvements, and ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
  21. Ensure staffing schedules meet program needs, including backup coverage.
  22. Participate in required in-services and training.
  23. Ensure residents receive leisure services as per state guidelines.
  24. Participate in the Manager-on-Duty program.
  25. Perform other duties as requested.
Physical and Environmental Demands:

Requires dexterity, visual and auditory acuity, ability to lift at least 15 lbs, push/pull carts, and walk, sit, or stand for extended periods. Must use good body mechanics, be neat, groomed, and proficient with computers. Must maintain a positive attitude.

Qualifications:

Standards: Meets or exceeds MA, RI, CT, and NH state requirements.

  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in office software, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and newsletters.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to develop and manage engaging activities, manage staff, and interact positively with external organizations. Knowledge of therapeutic recreational techniques is preferred.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Recreational Therapy or related field preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: At least one year in recreational therapy; gerontology experience preferred.
  • Certificates/Licenses: Certified Therapeutic Recreations Specialist preferred; valid driver’s license required; ability to obtain certification within one year if applicable.
