Job summary

Elderwood Village at Colonie in Latham, NY is seeking an Activity Leader to design and lead engaging recreational, social, and wellness activities for residents.

You will work with the Director of Activities to tailor programs to each resident's interests, encourage participation, document progress, and help create a warm, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid New York Driver’s License and clean driving record.
• Ability to build relationships with staff, volunteers, families and visitors.
• Ability to inspire and motivate others and adapt activities to resident needs.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and facilitating daily recreational and social activities.
• Encourage resident participation through group and one-on-one programming.
• Build meaningful relationships by learning residents' interests and preferences.
• Document resident participation and progress toward activity goals.
• Coordinate with community organizations, volunteers, and special guests to enhance programming.
• Maintain activity supplies, equipment, and department inventory.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 yrs. age required, HS diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid New York Driver’s License and clean driving record required.
• Ability to develop good relationships with staff, volunteers, families and visitors required.
• Ability to inspire and motivate others, create a warm and accepting climate for residents and be able to adapt and modify activities to meet their needs required.
• Understanding of the rights and needs of residents required.
• Physical stamina for constant activity required.
• This position requires regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors. In order to ensure a safe work environment for residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors, this position requires that the employee be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level.
