Job summary

Trempealeau County Health Care Center is seeking an Activity Director to guide a team in planning and leading a range of resident activities. This role emphasizes leadership, coordination, and an inclusive environment to promote participation and wellbeing.

The position requires a BA/BS in a relevant field and certification eligibility, plus experience in therapeutic or recreational programs. Expected to work across multiple locations, with a focus on safety and engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in therapeutic recreation or related field.
• Qualified therapeutic recreation therapist certification or willingness to complete certification.
• Two years of experience in social or recreational programs, including full-time in a therapeutic activities program.

Responsibilities

• Foster an inclusive atmosphere where all residents feel encouraged to participate.
• Demonstrate strong organizational and planning skills.
• Manage schedules efficiently and adapt to changing resident needs.
• Monitor participation and provide personalized encouragement to foster engagement.
• Schedule logistics for activities, including setup, execution, and cleanup, maintaining safety.
• Document records of participation, feedback, and outcomes to improve programming.
• Lead at more than one location, including mental health and skilled nursing facilities.

The Trempealeau County Health Care Center has an opening for an Activity Director. We are seeking an individual with leadership qualities to guide team members and lead a variety of activities that encourage participation from our residents.

$28.80 - $34.97 per hour based on experience/education

• Coordinate special events, outings, and therapeutic activities aligned with residents' preferences and abilities.
• Foster an inclusive atmosphere where all residents feel encouraged to participate .
• Strong organizational and planning skills required.
• The ability to manage schedules efficiently while quickly adapting to changing resident needs is critical to success in this role.
• Monitor residents' participation and provide personalized encouragement to foster engagement and enjoyment.
• Manage scheduling logistics for activities, ensuring timely setup, execution, and cleanup while maintaining a safe environment.
• Document detailed records of resident participation, resident feedback, and activity goal outcomes to continually improve programming quality.
• Ability to lead at more than one location, including mental health and skilled nursing facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) from a four-year college or university with a major or minor in therapeutic recreation, social work, sociology, psychology, occupational therapy, or related field.
• Qualified therapeutic recreation therapist or willing to complete a certification specialist training course through the State of Wisconsin.
• Two years of experience in social or recreational programs within the last 5 years, one of which was full-time in a therapeutic activities program.
