Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Prepare weekly program content and newsletters; coordinate events and personalized projects.
  • Train staff in activity programming and assist with admin tasks and tours.
  • Transport residents to appointments and outings; supervise the Activity Coordinator as needed.

Job description

Position Summary

Plans, schedules, and coordinates resident activities that support physical, cognitive, emotional, and social well-being; ensures program delivery by staff and maintains participation records.

  • Prepare and distribute weekly program content; collect articles/photos for newsletters.
  • Plan/coordinate seasonal events, arts programming, entertainment, birthday celebrations, group games, religious services, and individualized projects reflecting life enrichment.
  • Build relationships with community organizations to incorporate external recreational opportunities.
  • Maintain an adequate inventory of books, puzzles, magazines, and games.
  • Train staff in activity-related programming; assist with administrative functions, tours, and switchboard relief as needed.
  • Transport residents to appointments and recreational outings as assigned; oversee the Activity Coordinator.
  • Greet residents, employees, and guests warmly, by name and with a smile.
  • Treat everyone with courtesy and respect; embrace and value our differences. Anticipate needs and act proactively; listen and respond promptly and enthusiastically.
  • Hold ourselves and one another accountable; maintain professionalism in conduct and appearance.
  • Pay attention to details; ask, "Is there anything else I can do for you?"

Education

  • Degree/certification in recreational activities/life enrichment preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

  • Two (2) years in activities/life enrichment with seniors; one (1) year of supervisory experience.

Knowledge/Skills

  • English proficiency; knowledge of residents' physical, mental, and social needs.
  • Comfort with Gardens Care's approved systems is required: Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Gmail, Calendar, Meet), ECP (care management), Sagely (life enrichment/activity documentation), and ADP (timekeeping, payroll, scheduling).

Special Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal skills; patience; willingness to work beyond normal hours; medical clearance; valid driver's license and acceptable record (if driving).

Tools & Equipment

  • Computer; printer/copier/scanner; telephone; postage machine; digital camera.

Physical Activities

  • Lift/carry up to 50 lbs.; push/pull up to 100 lbs. occasionally; climb/reach/bend/twist occasionally; frequent talking and listening; sit 2-3 hrs and stand/walk 5-6 hrs per 8-hr day.

Physical Requirements

  • Light work - up to 20 lbs. occasionally.

Visual Requirements

  • Clerical/administrative work, including computer use and reading.
