Job summary

Heritage at Falmouth is seeking a dedicated staff member to support program/activity areas, ensuring safety, cleanliness, and adherence to established procedures. The role includes maintaining records, assisting with in-service training, and reporting incidents to supervisors.

Applicants should have a High School diploma, 1–3 years of experience with the elderly, clear English, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. A valid MA driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

  • Follow established procedures and schedules for programs/activities.
  • Maintain records and report to supervisor as directed.
  • Inspect and maintain program/activity areas for safety and cleanliness.
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of equipment and supplies.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident care information and report incidents as required.
  • Drive Heritage vehicle for errands or as directed.

Job description

  1. Is knowledgeable of Programs/Activity department practices, procedures, safety regulations, and guidelines and ensures that Programs/Activity schedules are followed as outlined by supervisor.
  2. Performs activities, follows schedules, and maintains records as directed, in accordance with established procedures.
  3. Inspects program/activity areas on a daily basis to ensure that the grounds, buildings and equipment are maintained in accordance with established policies and procedure and all hazardous areas are properly identified.
  4. Cleans program areas as directed, disposes of refuse/trash in accordance with established procedures, and reports to manager whenever supplies need to be ordered. Ensures that work/assignment areas are clean and equipment, tools, supplies, etc., are properly stored before leaving such areas on breaks, end of work day, etc.
  5. Assures that the program and activity area and equipment is properly maintained for comfort, convenience and safety, operating to manufacturer’s specifications. Reports and assists in identifying and correcting problem areas and equipment, and/or improvement of services, when applicable.
  6. Develops and maintains a good working rapport with inter-departmental personnel, and other departments within Heritage, to assure that programs can be properly planned and maintained to meet the needs of Heritage.
  7. Participates in programs designed for in-service education, on the job training and orientation classes.
  8. Adheres to Universal Precautions and Infection Control Policies, including following established hand washing procedures, use of appropriate PPE and supplies when handling infectious materials. Follows established policies governing the use/disposal of PPE and disposal of infectious wastes.
  9. Has a competent understanding of all chemicals and has been trained to use them in accordance with standards. Keeps work area(s) free of hazardous conditions, i.e.,grease/oil spills, excess supplies, equipment, etc., to assure that all established safety rules/regulations are followed at all times.
  10. Wear and/or use safety equipment and supplies and uses proper mechanics while performing duties (e.g., back brace, mechanical lifts, etc. when moving or lifting heavy objects).
  11. Keeps work area(s) free of hazardous conditions, i.e., grease/oil spills, excess supplies, equipment, etc., to assure that all established safety rules/regulations are followed at all times. Refers to materials safety when necessary.
  12. Reports all accidents/incidents to your supervisor, no matter how minor they may be. (NOTE: Such occurrences must be reported on the shift on which they occur).
  13. Adheres to department working hours and completes assignments within guidelines set by supervisor and performs other related duties and activities as may be become necessary or as directed by supervisor. Demonstrates versatility and/or willingness to cover emergencies, various functions and shifts. I.e., driving, working weekends and holiday staffing. May be required to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays, when necessary, and in other positions, temporarily, when necessary
  14. Maintains the confidentiality of all resident care information, including protected health information and reports known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of said information.
  15. Reports known or suspected incidents of fraud to the Executive Director
  16. Drive Heritage vehicle for errands, transporting, or other uses as directed.
  17. Performs other job related duties as requested by the Executive Director and/or designee to meet the needs of the residents and the facility
