Job summary

The BridgeWay in North Little Rock, Arkansas is seeking an Activity Specialist to support its recreational therapy program on a per diem/as-needed basis. You will help patients develop and enjoy a structured leisure lifestyle through guided activities, assessments, and friendly interactions with staff.

Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Recreational Therapy or related field, and current CPI/CPR certifications, with a valid Arkansas driver’s license.

The Activity Specialistwill follow the coordinated and developed comprehensive recreation program, including assisting patients with developing, maintaining, and expressing an appropriate leisure lifestyle.

Qualifications

Licenses or Certifications:

• Current Arkansas Driver’s License.
• Current CPI and CPR certifications, or must obtain within 2 weeks of hire, offered onsite.

Total education, vocational training and experience:

• Graduate of an accredited program with a bachelor’s degree in Recreational Therapy or related field or equivalent experience.
• Competency in Activity Specialist duties and skills completed onsite.

Skills and Abilities:

1. Working knowledge and experience with therapeutic recreation activity process, including conducting activity groups.
2. Must have the visual acuity to identify, instruct, and evaluate patient’s skills, affect, needs, safety, and progress.
3. Excellent verbal and written skills are required to communicate and interact effectively with patients, families, physicians, hospital staff, and the public.
4. Must be able to work with patients, families, physicians, and staff in a professional and empathetic manner.
5. Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
6. Ability to recognized the effect activities are having on patients and communicate concerns and/or positive progress towards goals to RT/Treatment staff personnel.
