Job summary

Lifepoint Behavioral Health in the Senior Advantage program seeks an Activities Therapy Coordinator to support clinical, operational, and administrative excellence in geriatric psychiatric care. The role focuses on assessment, treatment planning, and engaging activities aligned with physician orders.

The position requires a bachelor's in Recreational Therapy (CTRS) or related field, CTRS/Music/Art therapy license, CPR and de-escalation certs, and experience in psychiatric/geriatric care.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Recreational Therapy (CTRS), Music Therapy (MT-BC), Art Therapy (ATR, ATR-BC, ATR-P, LPAT), or similar field.
  • Current CTRS, Certified Music Therapist, or Certified Art Therapist license as required by state regulations.
  • CPR and de-escalation certifications required or obtained within 30 days of hire.
  • Experience in a psychiatric health care facility, with direct experience with chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, psychiatric and geriatric patients preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses patient needs using cultural, religious, and physical disability considerations to determine group and activity suitability.
  • Documents patient responses to interventions and contributes to assessment workload balance between therapists.
  • Formulates initial and subsequent treatment programs in accordance with attending physician's orders.
  • Develops a plan of care with specific, measurable goals, objectives, and patient-specific interventions.
  • Provides activities suitable to patient needs and offers varied stimuli in line with the treatment plan.
  • Offers quality programming to support patient objectives and needs.
  • Contributes to treatment planning with feedback to clinical staff to achieve therapeutic interventions.
  • Provides direction to clinical and unit staff regarding activity-related groups.

The program staff includes a board-certified psychiatrist, licensed therapists and social workers, a registered nurse, and other trained professionals dedicated to the mental well-being of seniors within our community.

How you'll contribute

An Activities Therapy Coordinator who excels in this role:

  • Assesses patient needs utilizing cultural, religious, and physical disabilities, in the determination of capabilities in groups and with specific activities
  • Documents the patient's response to interventions pertinent to patient treatment on daily/weekly progress status, as appropriateCompletes all assessments within the time frame allotted and contributes to assessment workload balance between therapists
  • Formulates the initial and subsequent treatment programs in accordance with the attending physician's/licensed practitioner's treatment orders
  • Develops a plan of care with specific and measurable goals, objectives, and interventions defining actions unique to each patient's needs
  • Provides activities suitable to the patient's needs and offers a variety of stimuli in accordance with the treatment plan
  • Provides quality programming to support the objectives of the patient and their needs
  • Contributes to treatment planning with feedback to clinical and program staff to achieve therapeutic interventions
  • Provides directions to clinical and unit staff regarding activity-related groups
What we're looking for

This position is responsible for supporting the needs of the department with a focus on clinical, operational, and administrative excellence. Additional requirements include:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institute in Recreational Therapy (CTRS), Music Therapy (MT-BC), Art Therapy (ATR, ATR-BC,ATR-P LPAT), or similar field required.
  • License: Current CTRS, Certified Music Therapist, or Certified Art Therapist license as required by state regulations.
  • Certifications: CPR and De-escalation certification required or obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Previous experience in a psychiatric health care facility, with direct experience working with chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, psychiatric and geriatric patients preferred
