Job summary

Columbus Springs East is seeking an Activities Therapist Assistant (PRN) in Columbus, OH within a behavioral health setting. This role supports the Activity Therapist by facilitating groups, documenting patient responses, and contributing to treatment plans while focusing on patient engagement and safety.

The assistant will implement activities aligned with the therapeutic plan, maintain ongoing communication with the supervising therapist, and tailor activities to age-related developmental

  • Documents the patient’s response to groups and tracks daily/weekly progress.
  • Provides groups according to the Activity Therapist protocol to maximize patient benefit.
  • Maintains communication with the Activity Therapist when patients do not respond to treatments.
  • Assists with age-appropriate activities considering developmental needs.
  • Offers activities aligned with the treatment plan and approved by the Activity Therapist.
  • Contributes to maintaining a quality program and clear communication of expectations.

How you’ll contribute
  • Documents the patient’s response to groups pertinent to patient treatment on daily/weekly progress status, as appropriate.
  • Provides groups according to the protocol set forth by the Activity Therapist, communicate, and work with the patient to achieve the greatest benefit and resolution.
  • Maintains constant communication with the Activity Therapist when patient is not responding to the treatments.
  • Contributes to the effective functioning of the patient’s program. Understands the age differences and the corresponding developmental needs.
  • Provides activities suitable to the patient’s needs and offers a variety of stimuli in accordance with the treatment plan, with approval of Activity Therapist.
  • Contributes to maintain a quality program to satisfy the therapeutic needs of the patient. Offers direction and education to maintain clear communication of expectations.

What we’re looking for

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED. Additional requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institute in recreation related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in a psychiatric health care facility, with direct experience working with chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, psychiatric and geriatric patients preferred.
  • CPR certification and Crisis Prevention Training (CPI) within 30 days.
