Job summary

Ciena Healthcare in Michigan’s Flint region seeks an Activities Director to design engaging programs for residents, communicate effectively, and foster a cheerful, inclusive atmosphere. You will lead a multi-disciplinary team to plan and execute activities supporting physical, mental and emotional well‑being.

You will assess residents, develop care plans, coordinate calendars, and supervise Activities Assistants while ensuring safety and respectful interaction.

Qualifications

• Licensed or registered by the State where practicing (if applicable).
• Eligible for certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist or as an activities professional.
• Two years of experience in a social or recreational program.
• Qualified occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant; or
• Completed a State-approved training course.
• High school diploma required.

Responsibilities

• Complete assessments and develop care plans to design activities that reflect each guest’s interests and functional level.
• Offer activities that engage facility staff, volunteers and visitors.
• Assist with escorting guests to and from activities.
• Post monthly activity calendars.
• Manage Activities Assistants in facilitating guest engagement in activities.
