Qualifications

  • Two years’ experience in a social or recreation program in a long term care setting within the last five years, one of which was full-time in a Resident Activities program.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English.

  • Develop a plan on care based on each Resident assessment with measurable goals and appropriate intervention or approaches.
  • Accurately document Resident attendance to groups in the designated notebook.
  • Evaluate the overall effectiveness of activities for which the assistant is responsible and modify the activity to meet the Resident’s needs.
  • Transport Residents to and from activities and request nursing assistance as needed.
  • Assist with posting posters, calendars and pertinent Activity information on the Activity Boards.
  • Under supervision of the Activity Director, purchase supplies as needed.
  • Attend required meetings and train volunteers assigned to activities.
  • Promote person-centered care and adhere to all policies and standards.

Description

Activities assistants help to create a stimulating and fulfilling environment for residents through recreational activities and programs, promoting socialization, entertainment, and overall well-being.

  • Plan, conduct and organize daily programs for Residents, including intervention for room bound Residents
  • Develop a plan on care based on each Resident assessment with measurable goals and appropriate intervention or approaches.
  • Accurately document Resident attendance to groups in the designated notebook.
  • Evaluate the overall effectiveness of activities for which the assistant is responsible and as necessary and modify the activity to meet the Resident’s needs and interests.
  • Transport Residents to and from activities and regularly request the assistance from nursing that is needed.
  • Assist with the posting of posters, calendars and pertinent Activity information on the designated Activity Boards.
  • Under the supervision of the Activity Director, purchase supplies as needed.
  • Attend any meeting as directed by the Activity Director.
  • Train and supervise volunteers assigned to activities.
  • Committed to working with residents and families to develop and implement strategies that promote person-centered care.

  • Adheres to all company policies, procedures, and standards of conduct.
  • Reports to the appropriate managers any known or suspected violations of policy and procedures, regulations or standards of conduct.

Requirements

High School Graduate preferred

Two years’ experience in a social or recreation program in a long term care setting within the last five years, one of which was full-time in a Resident Activities program.

Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
