Job summary

The Blossoms at Oakdale Rehab & Nursing Center is seeking an Activities Assistant to plan and implement engaging recreational programs for residents, improving their well-being and enjoyment.

You will develop diverse activities—from games and arts to music and outings—tailored to meet residents' physical, emotional, and cognitive needs, while coordinating with staff and community resources to enhance opportunities.

Qualifications

• Certified Recreation Therapist required.
• CNA certification required.
• Proficient in reading, writing, speaking English.
• Ability to make independent decisions; tactful interpersonal interactions.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and oversee recreational therapy programs to improve residents' well-being and enjoyment.
• Develop diverse activities (games, arts, music, exercise, outings, events) tailored to residents' needs.
• Collaborate with staff to create an engaging and inclusive environment for residents to participate.
• Assess residents' interests and abilities to design individualized recreational plans.
• Manage and maintain recreational equipment and supplies.
• Document and maintain records of resident participation, progress, and outcomes.
• Stay updated on trends in therapeutic recreation to improve offerings.
• Coordinate with external community organizations to enhance opportunities for residents.
• Provide guidance and support to recreation staff and volunteers to foster a positive work environment.

Job Responsibilities:

• Plan, organize, and oversee a variety of recreational therapy programs to improve the well-being and enjoyment of our residents.
• Develop a diverse range of activities, such as games, arts and crafts, music, exercise, outings, and special events, tailored to meet the physical, emotional, and cognitive needs of our residents.
• Collaborate with other staff members to create an engaging and inclusive environment for residents to participate in recreational programs.
• Assess the interests and abilities of residents to design individualized recreational plans.
• Manage and maintain recreational equipment and supplies, ensuring their availability and functionality.
• Document and maintain accurate records of resident participation, progress, and outcomes.
• Stay updated on current trends and best practices in therapeutic recreation to continually improve program offerings.
• Coordinate with external community organizations and resources to enhance the recreational opportunities available to residents.
• Provide guidance and support to recreation staff and volunteers, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.

Qualifications:

• Certified Recreation Therapist in accordance with the Public Health Code required.
• Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the English language.
• Possess the ability to make independent decisions when necessary.
• Demonstrate tactful interpersonal skills when interacting with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the public.
• Exhibit patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, while adapting to residents' varying levels of maturity.
• Must be a CNA
