Job summary

The Colonnade at Northdale in Tampa, FL is seeking an organized Activities Coordinator to plan and implement engaging programs for residents. You will develop a monthly activity calendar, interact with residents across care levels with empathy, and coordinate events for residents, families, and staff.

The role requires transporting residents on outings and supervising volunteers, while maintaining a safe environment.

Responsibilities

• Create and follow a monthly activity calendar.

• Screen, recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment for residents.
• Provide staff training and support to meet performance standards.
• Facilitate resident council meetings and take minutes.
• Report concerns to the supervisor and follow up as needed.
• Observe health and emotional changes and communicate them to the supervisor.
• Respond promptly to resident requests and family inquiries.
• Ensure HIPAA compliance and protect resident confidentiality.
• Mentor new employees and take initiative on special projects.
• Assist in dining room service and daily living activities as needed.

Summary: Responsible and accountable for the organization, planning, development of allprogramming, and regular activities that are fun and exciting to our residents. These activitieswill be helpful in maintaining physical conditioning and overall health, improving appetite, andinspiring new friendships by performing the following duties.Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.1. Creates and adheres to a monthly activity calendar.*2. Speaks to and interacts with residents at all levels of care while showing empathy, kindness, compassion, and respect.*3. Coordinates special events for residents, families, staff, and assists the community relations department as requested.*4. Transports and supervises residents on outings, shopping trips, and doctor’s visits.*5. Screens, recruits, trains, and coordinate’s all volunteers.*6. Always maintains a clean, safe, and orderly environment for all residents.*7. Provides training, guidance, and support to staff to meet established performance standards and expectations.*8. Acts as facilitator and takes minutes at resident council meetings.*9. Follows up on any concerns voiced and discussed at the resident council meeting with the appropriate department manager.*10. Provides resolution for reports and documents resolution at the next resident council meeting.*11. Observes and reports to supervisor daily all changes in the resident’s health and emotional condition.*12. Demonstrates the ability to set and manage priorities.*13. Responds promptly and courteously to resident's request for assistance including phone calls and requests from family members and visitors.*14. Communicates effectively in a language that each resident is capable of understanding.*15. Observes and reports safety hazards immediately to supervisor.*16. Practices good body mechanics and safe working habits.*17. Knows, understands, and follows established policy and procedures in emergency situations.*18. Responsible for being essential personnel during emergencies and/or inclement weather.*19. Works as a team player with other associates and management in accomplishing work assignments.*20. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Abilityto speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.Math Ability:Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement,volume, and distance.Reasoning Ability:Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oralinstructions.
