Mason Wright Senior Living in Massachusetts seeks an Activities Assistant to plan and lead engaging daily programs for dementia residents, helping to create a supportive, enjoyable living environment.

You will assist with outings, calendar planning, and holiday decorations while supervising activities and reporting health changes to the care team. A compassionate, organized, team-oriented candidate with strong communication skills is essential.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience with elderly or dementia populations.
• Experience providing programs or services to the elderly.
• Must be responsible, organized, and dependable with strong communication to seniors and families.
• MS Office skills are required.
• Flexible, a good team player, and able to work some evenings and weekend hours.
• Patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm.
• Clear verbal and written expression; driving history should be accident-free.
• Background in recreation or art therapy is highly desirable.
• High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred; master’s encouraged.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Activities Assistant helps create fun, engaging daily programs that enhance the quality of life for our dementia residents. Responsibilities include assisting with planning and leading activities, transporting residents to community outings, supporting calendar preparation, and helping plan and decorate for holidays and special events. The role also involves assisting and supervising residents during activities, observing and reporting changes in health or mental status, and maintaining organized activity supplies and inventory.

We currently have the following available

Hours

28 hours, part-time, 12:30 pm to 8:00 pm

Schedule

Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, every other weekend, and assigned holidays

Requirements

• Must have 1 to 2 years of experience working with the elderly and/or dementia/Alzheimer's populations.
• Experience providing programs or services to the elderly.
• Must be responsible, organized, and dependable with the ability to communicate effectively with senior citizens and their families.
• MS Office skills are required.
• Must be flexible, a good team player, and able to work some evenings and weekend hours.
• Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm.
• Must be able to express oneself clearly, verbally, and in writing. Has a history of responsible, accident-free driving.
• A background in recreation therapy or art therapy is highly desirable.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• An associate’s or bachelor’s degree is preferred. Students pursuing a master’s degree program in art therapy or recreational therapy are strongly urged to apply, as valuable experience is gained through this opportunity.
