Job summary

Great Lakes Management in Wisconsin is seeking an activities assistant to support the Director of Resident Services in planning a range of programs that meet residents' social, physical, and emotional needs.

You will assess resident interests, help promote events, coordinate transportation for outings, and lead small to large group activities with kindness and organizational skill. A valid license and basic computer skills are required, along with creativity and a strong work ethic.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of activities experience in independent retirement, assisted living, adult day services or long-term care facility serving a senior population.
  • Valid Drivers License and acceptable driving record.
  • Currently possess a Class C license, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
  • Ability to use basic Windows, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) computer programs.
  • Creativity in developing and planning activity programs.
  • Group leadership and interpersonal skills to lead one on one, small, and large group activities.
  • Able to read, write, spell, do basic math, speak and understand English

Responsibilities

  • Assist Activity Coordinator with planning, promotion, and leading each event or program.
  • Assess residents recreational and social needs.
  • Support development of monthly Activity Calendar of Events.
  • Lead small, large and one on one activity programs with seniors.
  • Research and recommend to Coordinator entertainment/educational speakers/church representatives, etc.
  • Support coordination of transportation needs to outside events/programs in accordance with established policies and procedures. Accompany residents on field trips as assigned.
  • Work cooperatively with assigned volunteers and direct their assignments to support the resident programming.
  • Maintain the STSW bus interior and exterior.
  • Report maintenance needs in timely manner.
