Job summary

Diversicare is seeking an energetic Activity Coordinator in the United States to lead the activity program for all residents. You will run group activities and provide one-to-one engagement to those who cannot participate in groups.

This role emphasizes strong communication, creativity, and the ability to motivate residents while supporting their wellbeing through diverse programs and events.

Qualifications

  • Experience in long term care
  • Ability to communicate ideas clearly and instruct residents
  • Ability to direct and perform activities for residents
  • Ability to motivate residents and promote well-being
  • Ability to interpret feelings and report progress
  • Ability to evaluate resident progress and document accordingly
  • Imagination and creativity are necessary

Responsibilities

  • Leads group activities as assigned by the Activity Coordinator.
  • Provides one-to-one activities to residents who cannot join groups.
  • Assists in planning Activity Program with Resident’s Council and Activity Coordinator.
  • Maintains attendance sheets for participants.
  • Assists residents to and from activities.
  • Communicates resident status to Activity Coordinator.
  • May attend care plan meetings and document progress notes.
  • Arrange movies, live entertainment, and group outings (picnics, games, sightseeing).
  • Assigns duties to volunteers.

Responsibilities

Assists the Activity Coordinator in implementing and executing an Activity Program for all residents in the facility.

  • Leads group activities as assigned by the Activity Coordinator.
  • Provides one-to-one activities to those who cannot be in a group setting.
  • Assists in planning Activity Program through Resident’s Council and Activity Coordinator.
  • Maintains attendance sheets on participants.
  • Assists residents to and from activities.
  • Communicates status of residents to Activity Coordinator.
  • May attend interdisciplinary care plan team meetings and document on care plan and in progress notes.
  • May make arrangements for movies, live entertainment for special programs, and group outings, such as picnics, ball games or sightseeing.
  • Assigns duties and delegation of responsibilities to volunteers.
  • This position has access to protected health information in the resident’s financial and medical records to conduct job duties.
Qualifications

1. Experience in long term care required; preferred in recreational setting.

2. An interest in people; the ability to communication ideas; to instruct residentsand communicate with them appropriately.

3. Ability to direct and perform a variety of activities and to respond to varied needs of residents.

4. Able to motivate residents and in promoting theirwell beingthrough direct activities.

5. Ability to interpret feelings, ideas, or facts in terms of personal viewpoint.

6. Must be able to evaluate resident’s progress and accurately report to ActivitiesCoordinator.

7. Imagination and creativity are necessary.
