Job summary

Diversicare is seeking an Activity Assistant to support the Activity Coordinator in executing programs for residents. The role requires experience in long-term care, strong communication skills, and the ability to direct activities.

You will lead group activities and provide one-on-one support as needed. The ideal candidate will possess creativity and imagination, enabling them to engage residents in meaningful activities that promote well-being.

Qualifications

• Experience in long term care required, preferably in recreational setting.
• Ability to communicate effectively with residents.
• Capability to direct and perform a variety of activities.
• Ability to motivate residents through direct activities.
• Skills in evaluating resident's progress.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Activity Coordinator in executing the Activity Program.
• Lead group activities as assigned.

• Maintain attendance sheets on participants.
• Assist residents in attending activities.
• Communicate resident status to the Activity Coordinator.
• Arrange for special programs and group outings.

Diversicare provides post-acute care services to patients and residents at 61 skilled nursing and long-term care centers in eight states, primarily in the Southeast, Midwest and Southwest United States. Together, with our team of dedicated healthcare professionals, we leverage our diverse strengths to provide each patient and resident with healthcare serves that best meet their needs.

Responsibilities

Assists the Activity Coordinator in implementing and executing an Activity Program for all residents in the facility.

• Leads group activities as assigned by the Activity Coordinator.
• Provides one-to-one activities to those who cannot be in a group setting.
• Assists in planning Activity Program through Resident's Council and Activity Coordinator.
• Maintains attendance sheets on participants.
• Assists residents to and from activities.
• Communicates status of residents to Activity Coordinator.
• May attend interdisciplinary care plan team meetings and document on care plan and in progress notes.
• May make arrangements for movies, live entertainment for special programs, and group outings, such as picnics, ball games or sightseeing.
• Assigns duties and delegation of responsibilities to volunteers.
• This position has access to protected health information in the resident's financial and medical records to conduct job duties.

Qualifications

1. Experience in long term care required; preferred in recreational setting.

2. An interest in people; the ability to communication ideas; to instruct residentsand communicate with them appropriately.

3. Ability to direct and perform a variety of activities and to respond to varied needs of residents.

4. Able to motivate residents and in promoting theirwell beingthrough direct activities.

5. Ability to interpret feelings, ideas, or facts in terms of personal viewpoint.

6. Must be able to evaluate resident's progress and accurately report to ActivitiesCoordinator.

7. Imagination and creativity are necessary.
