Job summary

Gallaway Health and Rehab in Tennessee is seeking an Activity Assistant to enhance residents' quality of life by planning and leading engaging activities that promote socialization, cognitive stimulation, and well-being.

You will work with the Recreation Therapy department to develop programs, maintain records, and ensure activities align with individualized care plans. Flexibility for evenings and weekends, plus strong communication, are essential in this role.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Healthcare or senior living experience preferred.
• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Ability to lift, transfer, and reposition residents as needed.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and lead activities (games, arts, crafts, fitness, social events) for residents.
• Collaborate with Recreation Therapy to develop activity programs promoting well-being.
• Maintain records of resident participation, progress and feedback.
• Promote a positive, inclusive atmosphere encouraging social interaction and community engagement.
• Coordinate with care team to align activities with individualized care plans.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and lead various activities, including games, arts, crafts, fitness classes, and social events, tailored to meet the diverse needs and interests of our residents
• Collaborate with the Recreation Therapy department to develop and implement activity programs that promote physical, social, and emotional well-being
• Assist in maintaining accurate records of resident participation, progress, and feedback
• Develop and promote a positive and inclusive atmosphere that encourages social interaction and community engagement
• Partner with other care team members to ensure that activities align with individualized care plans and meet the needs of our residents
• Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to the development of activity programs and services

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Prior experience in a healthcare or senior living setting preferred
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to lift, transfer, and reposition residents as needed
