Job summary

Essex Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Elizabethtown, NY invites applications for a Recreation Aide. You will support residents with engaging activities, tailor programs to interests, and help maintain a warm, person-centered environment.

Ideal candidates have healthcare activities experience or recreation therapy education, strong computer skills, and the ability to work well in a team. Some weekend shifts may be required; dementia experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Positive attitude and energy are required.
• Experience with activities in healthcare settings or recreation therapy coursework.
• Experience with geriatric populations preferred.
• Strong computer skills are necessary.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Excellent organizational and planning abilities; multitasking.
• Some weekend shifts may be required.
• Dementia experience is preferred.

• Implement activities programs for Residents; focus on individual interests
• Work directly with Residents on units; without direct supervision
• Organize and obtain supplies and equipment as requested
• Assist recreation specialists & set up program areas as needed
• Keep daily attendance and document residents’ participation in activities
• Assist residents to program location and return residents to appropriate units
• Be familiar with established emergency procedures

REQUIREMENTS:

• Positive attitude and energy is a must!
• Experience with activities in a healthcare settings or college work in recreation therapy
• Previous experience with Geriatric population preferred
• Strong computer skills necessary
• Ability to work effectively as a team member
• Strong organizational & planning skills; ability to multi-task
• Some weekends required
• Dementia experience preferred
