Job summary

Koelsch Communities is seeking an energetic Active Living Director for Northbrook Inn to lead resident engagement, design entertainment and events, and ensure enriching programming on a Monday–Friday schedule. The role combines leadership with hands-on activity planning to enhance residents' quality of life.

You will collaborate with residents and families, plan diverse programs, and manage budgets while contributing to a warm, family‑owned community renowned for service and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must possess upbeat, positive personality and be congenial with residents, families, and staff.
• Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
• Must be detail- and team-oriented; valid driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct activities for residents with varying abilities and interests.
• Maintain a clean and organized activity environment.
• Engage all residents in activity programming and conduct daily exercises.
• Provide personalized programs in crafts, recreation, and hobbies.
• Evaluate program content quarterly and discuss changes with the Executive Director.
• Plan special events for birthdays, holidays, and observances.
• Manage the activities budget and maintain equipment and supplies.
• Develop a network of instructors, entertainers, and community partners.

Full-time opportunity! MON - FRI, 9AM - 5PM.

Earn between $29 and $30/hour, dependent on experience!

Who You Are

You enjoy entertaining. This role works closely with residents and families to assess interests and needs of the residents. You’ll get to design, plan, and provide entertainment, special events, and other activities which enrich the lives of residents!

What You'll Do

• Plan and conduct activities with a large group of varying abilities and interests, both physical and cognitive.
• Maintain a clean and organized environment.
• Involve all residents in some activity programming.
• Conduct daily exercises at recommended times.
• Work Individually with residents to provide personalized programs in crafts, recreation, and hobbies.
• Evaluate program content quarterly to determine areas where improvement can be made. Confer with Executive Director on areas of change.
• Plan and conduct special events to celebrate residents' birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, and other special observances.
• Control activities budget.
• Develop and maintain a resource file of instructors, entertainers, community liaisons, tours, cultural events, sporting events, etc.
• Order and maintain all department equipment and supplies.
• Participate in health fairs or marketing presentations upon request.
• Create and upkeep of bio boards.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must possess an upbeat, positive, flexible, and enthusiastic personality and be congenial with fellow employees, residents, and the public at large.
• Must have strong organizational skills, as well as the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
• Must be detail and team work oriented.
• Current and unencumbered driver’s license.
• Must attend required in-services/ workshops to further education of skills and community requirements.
• Must be drug free and submit to Urinary Analysis Drug screening upon hire and routinely.
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check upon hire and as requested by state regulations.
• The employee shall be responsible for maintaining the integrity of Koelsch Communities.
