Job summary

Rider University’s Department of Natural and Health Sciences invites applications for a full-time Acting Assistant Professor in Exercise Science for Spring 2027. Appointments may continue into the 2027-2028 year.

The holder will teach core exercise science courses, advise students, and contribute to an active, independent research program. Collaboration with faculty across disciplines, mentoring a diverse student body, and ongoing engagement with accreditation processes are expected.

Qualifications

• PhD or terminal degree with certifications (ACSM-EP, NSCA CSCS, CSCCa) in Exercise Physiology or related field.
• Proven record of outstanding teaching of diverse undergraduates and ability to engage them in active research.
• Post-doctoral or clinical experience and experience with internships/field placements; program accreditation.
• ABD considered.
• Satisfactory background checks required.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to instruction of exercise science courses (e.g., Exercise Testing & Prescription, Organization and Administration in Exercise Science, Introduction to Health Professions, Kinesiology) and related courses.
• Advise students and provide value to the Department, College and University.
• Willingness to work collaboratively with other faculty and mentor students from diverse disciplines and backgrounds.
