Job summary

SAIC is seeking an Acquisitions Systems Engineer in Chantilly, VA to support a joint program office with a TS/SCI clearance and polygraph. The role focuses on advising on satellite program acquisitions, managing program mechanisms and risks, and ensuring schedule and cost controls throughout lifecycle.

The candidate will work in a SETA capacity, provide technical analysis, develop integration plans, and contribute to future concepts.

Qualifications

  • STEM degree required; 5+ years post-degree experience OR 9+ years without degree; Masters with 3+ years; PhD with 0 years.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering standards and the DoD/NRO acquisition processes.
  • Experience managing program mechanisms (ROMB/ERB).
  • Ability to assess contractor solutions and schedule impacts; prepare briefs, reports, and presentations.
  • Able to operate in a high-tempo environment with flexibility to adapt to changes.

Description

SAIC has an opening for top talent to join our team supporting a joint program office customer at the NRO as a full-time Acquisitions Systems Engineer. The position is in a Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) functional role. Qualified candidates must have a current TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph.

The successful applicant must provide technical expertise, continuity of effort and value-added judgment to advise customers on the acquisition of a satellite program. Daily activities include:

  • Managing multiple program mechanisms to ensure program success
  • Identify opportunities for resolving program/project issues, and recommend technical approach and management controls that need to be employed to meet the technical performance and schedule requirements for the life cycle management of the program/project
  • Participate in requirements change processes to mitigate possible technical, schedule, and cost impacts
  • Provide knowledge and expertise on the readiness process to include an understanding of entry and exit criteria
  • Build plans, schedules, and conduct integration of projects/programs
  • Identify programmatic risks and formulate mitigation strategies to help minimize program’s impact
  • Contribute to the development of new concepts, techniques, and approaches to address future needs
Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: STEM degree - Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience; or nine (9) years of experience in lieu of a degree; Masters and three (3) years or more experience; PhD and 0 years related experience. Experience may be considered in lieu of education

Required experience and skills:

  • Possess knowledge of systems engineering standards and best practices, including the systems engineering “V”
  • Possess knowledge of DoD and / or NRO acquisition processes
  • Proven ability to manage programmatic mechanisms, e.g. risk and opportunity management board (ROMB), engineering review board (ERB)
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct analysis and evaluations of contractor technical solutions and schedule impacts
  • Aptitude in preparing analytical aids, briefings, reports and presentations
  • Skilled / comfortable working in high-tempo environment, able to be flexible and to adjust to dynamic technical and/or fiscal challenges

Desired experience and skills:

  • Previous experience in an Intelligence Community SETA role
  • Previous experience as a Systems Engineer
  • Ability to assess/analyze requirements versus budget, and ability to recommend alternatives that fit within given budget
  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical users / customers
  • Excellent technical writing and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Project

Target salary range: $120,001 - $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
