Job summary

Buro Happold Limited is seeking an Acoustics Intern to help design and analyze spaces with a focus on sustainability and innovation. You will work with a team of experts, gain hands-on experience, and contribute to projects that shape communities around the world.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a degree in acoustical engineering or building physics and have familiarity with acoustics software. Hybrid working arrangements and learning opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Acoustical Engineering or related field.
• Experience using acoustics software tools (EASE, CATT, Odeon) is beneficial.
• Knowledge of acoustical measurement techniques is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Create acoustic models for different spaces.
• Perform acoustic measurements and tests in the field.
• Participate in design workshops and prepare technical documents.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on projects around the world.

Buro Happold’s performance acoustics specialists help sculpt spaces to realize acoustical excellence. We start with the artistic vision and apply our technical expertise to bring it to life. We have unique in‑house approaches, such as software tools that allow us to prototype venues in real time. Using this, we can change the layout, volume, shape and configuration of a performance space to show – instantly – the impact on acoustic performance.

Your key duties

• Work on projects of many different types in locations around the world


• Create acoustic models for different types of spaces


• Perform acoustic measurements and tests in the field


• Participate in design workshops


• Prepare technical documents with design information


• Experience firsthand how acoustic engineers approach and work on projects

Your skills and experience

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Acoustical Engineering, Building Physics, Architectural Engineering, Architecture, or related discipline


• Experience using EASE, CATT Acoustic, Odeon, CadnA beneficial


• Knowledge of acoustical measurement techniques beneficial


• Ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible manner


• Eagerness to learn and work as part of a multidisciplinary team
