Job summary

Klover Contracting is seeking an Acoustical / Suspended Ceiling Specialist to install ceiling grids, tiles, and related components within the Tri-State Area. The role requires precise measurements, blueprint reading, and collaboration with other trades to ensure efficient, safe installation.

Candidates should have 2+ years of commercial ceiling experience, familiarity with various grid systems, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship on diverse job sites.

Responsibilities

Acoustical / Suspended Ceiling Specialist

WORKSITES: 70-MILE RADIUS OF QUAKERTOWN (Tri-State Area, PA)

TheAcoustical / Suspended Ceiling Specialist is expected to apply plasterboard or other wallboard to ceilings or interior walls of buildings. They may also apply or mount acoustical tiles or blocks, strips, or sheets of shock-absorbing materials to ceilings and walls of buildings to reduce or reflect sound.

Essential Functions:

• Accurately measure height, width, length, and other proportions, including but not limited to establishing correct ceiling heights.
• Basic material take-off to ensure proper material selection and quantity needed.
• Work with blueprints or instructions from supervisors.
• Read blueprints and perform proper layout for work to be put in place.
• Examine blueprints and specifications to determine types of grid and tiles and where they are appropriately installed.
• Work with materials such as wood, metal, plastic, fiberglass, and/or drywall.
• Utilize appropriate tools to build or repair structural components
• Join materials with nails, screws, staples, or adhesives.
• Use levels, rules, plumb bobs, framing squares, and lasers to ensure everything is level and secure.
• Check work along the way to ensure it's up to code and specifications.
• Install all types of ceiling grid systems (standard, slotted, and specialty products)
• Inspects drywall partitions, mechanical mountings, and masonry surface for plumb and level, using a laser level.
• Hang or mechanically fasten support wires for acoustical ceiling grid from building structure.
• Hangs dry lines (stretched string) to wall molding to guide positioning of main runners.
• Nails or screws molding to wall to support and seals joint between ceiling tile and wall.
• Scribes and cuts edges of tile to fit wall where wall molding is not specified.
• Measures and marks surface to lay out work according to blueprints and drawings.
• Install acoustical ceiling main runners and cross runners.
• Cuts tiles for fixture and borders, using keyhole saw, and inserts tiles into supporting framework.
• Erect scaffolding.
• Always exercise the proper use of PPE.
• Coordinate with other trades on project to ensure an efficient installation flow.
• Attend required safety training as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

• Knowledge and experience working with commercial carpentry tools and building materials
• Knowledge and understanding of construction safety devices and PPE
• 2+ years commercial ceiling installation experience

Preferred Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Participation in a secondary or post-secondary trade curriculum or 4 years apprenticeship program in Carpentry
• 4+ years' commercial ceiling installation experience

Work Environment:

Carpenters work indoors and outdoors on many types of construction projects, with varying degrees of exposure to the elements.

Physical Requirements:

• Due to the physical nature of the position, employee must have full dexterity of their hands and arms.
• Employee must be able to see objects close and far away
• At times, multiple sounds can be heard as employee is working on job, employee must have the ability to focus on the sound in particular that is associated with the task they are completing. Employees with any sort of hearing impairment would not be considered fit for duty to perform this position.
• Due to the safety sensitive nature of the position, at all times, employee must be fit for duty and not report to work under the influence of a mind altering or performance altering substance. At no time, should employee be found to be possessing or using a mind or performance altering substance while performing any Company task.
