Job summary

MSI Transducers is seeking a mid-level Transducer Engineer to design and manufacture advanced electro-acoustic transducers for defense and commercial use. You will work with a cross-disciplinary team to innovate from concept through realization, guiding documentation, and production readiness.

The ideal candidate has acoustics and sonar experience, strong communication, and the ability to lead design reviews and collaborate with vendors and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in acoustics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, physics, or related field.
• Three to five years of relevant engineering experience.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary teams and manage tasks to completion.
• Experience with numerical analysis tools such as Mathcad, MATLAB, or Python.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize elector-acoustic transducers, selecting materials, evaluating outputs, and protecting for underwater use.
• Use specialized software to model transducers for accuracy and reliability.
• Maintain documentation of designs, simulations, tests, and progress.
• Plan experiments and tests to validate designs against specifications.
• Prepare design methodology summaries and ensure requirements satisfaction.
• Create drawings and BOMs for production and procurement.
• Lead program milestones, reviews, and vendor coordination.
• Collaborate across mechanical, electrical, and scientific teams to integrate transducer hardware into systems.
