Qualifications

  • 1–3+ years in acoustic testing or related lab roles.
  • Experience with SPL, frequency response, and audio output level measurements.
  • Hands-on experience with HATS, calibrators, microphones, fixtures.
  • Understanding REM, insertion gain concepts.
  • Basic signal processing knowledge.
  • Python and/or MATLAB scripting for data analysis.
  • Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Execute acoustic test plans and validation protocols for wearable audio devices.
  • Perform measurements including frequency response, SPL, and output levels.
  • Set up, configure, and operate acoustic measurement systems and lab equipment (HATS, microphones, fixtures).
  • Configure and operate acoustic measurement software tools.
  • Capture, analyze, document, and archive test data.
  • Troubleshoot product, audio, and measurement system issues.
  • Generate detailed test reports and maintain documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with established test procedures and quality standards.
  • Escalate anomalies, calibration concerns, and out-of-spec results.
  • Assist with development and enhancement of acoustic testing capabilities and laboratory processes.
  • Support verification and validation activities under senior engineers.

Job description

We are seeking an Acoustic Test Engineer to support the testing, validation, and performance evaluation of advanced wearable audio products. This is a hands‑on laboratory role focused on executing acoustic measurements, troubleshooting audio performance issues, maintaining testing systems, and producing high‑quality technical documentation.

The ideal candidate has experience working with acoustic measurement equipment, audio test methodologies, signal processing fundamentals, and structured laboratory environments. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to innovative audio technologies while working alongside experienced engineering teams.

Responsibilities
  • Execute acoustic test plans and validation protocols for wearable audio devices.
  • Perform measurements and evaluations including: Frequency Response, Sound Pressure Level (SPL), Gain, Audio Output Levels, Acoustic Performance Verification.
  • Set up, configure, and operate acoustic measurement systems and laboratory equipment, including: Head and Torso Simulators (HATS), Acoustic Couplers, Precision Measurement, Microphones, Audio Interfaces, Acoustic Calibrators.
  • Configure and operate acoustic measurement software tools.
  • Capture, analyze, document, and archive test data.
  • Troubleshoot product, audio, and measurement system issues.
  • Generate detailed test reports and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with established test procedures and quality standards.
  • Escalate anomalies, calibration concerns, and out‑of‑specification results.
  • Assist with the development and enhancement of acoustic testing capabilities and laboratory processes.
  • Support verification and validation activities under the guidance of senior engineers.
Required Qualifications
  • 1–3+ years of experience in acoustic testing, audio measurement, laboratory testing, or test engineering.
  • Experience measuring and analyzing: Sound Pressure Level (SPL), Frequency Response, Audio Output Levels.
  • Hands‑on experience with: HATS systems, Acoustic calibrators, Measurement microphones, Acoustic fixtures and couplers.
  • Understanding of: Real‑Ear Measurements (REM) Insertion Gain concepts, Acoustic and audio testing methodologies.
  • Basic knowledge of signal processing principles.
  • Experience with Python and/or MATLAB scripting for data analysis and automation.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Excellent technical documentation and reporting abilities.
  • Ability to follow structured test procedures with exceptional attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in audiology, hearing‑device testing, or related audio product testing.
  • Real‑ear measurement experience.
  • Knowledge of dynamic range compression.
  • Experience working in regulated or quality‑controlled environments.
  • Familiarity with: ISO 13485 quality systems, FDA‑regulated product environments, Verification and Validation (V&V) processes and Electronic Quality Management Systems (eQMS).
  • Experience designing, optimizing, or improving acoustic test setups and laboratory workflows.
Education
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in one of the following disciplines: Acoustics, Audio Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Audiology or Hearing Science, Biomedical Engineering, Music Technology, Related Technical Field.
