Job description

Noise Control Engineering, LLC (NCE) is seeking an Acoustic Engineer to work within our landside acoustical consulting business.

NCE is a premier engineering consulting firm located in Billerica, Massachusetts. We specialize in landside and marine noise and vibration control, assisting a diverse range of clients to design safe and comfortable working and living environments that meet a range of acoustic criteria. We pride ourselves on effective and efficient acoustic analyses and in-field testing to assess and solve challenging noise issues.

As an NCE engineer, you will join a talented team in a small business environment, combining analytical skills with hands-on testing to perform assessments, diagnostics, and solve challenging problems. We work on unique projects, often incorporating architectural and environmental acoustics concepts with structural vibration analysis and assessments, building off of our experience and expertise in marine noise and vibration.

In this role, you will work directly with clients to identify their needs and apply suitable analysis and testing methods to develop solutions for a variety of acoustic challenges. You will serve as the technical lead on designated projects with additional project management responsibilities. Colleagues will look to you for expertise in model-based assessments and in-field testing, contributing to a collaborative learning environment that supports the growth and success of NCE employees. You will report to the Landside Acoustics Group Lead, who oversees business development and manages the group's work. This position also offers opportunities to attend industry trade shows and events to expand NCE's landside business portfolio.

Please visit our website (www.noise-control.com) to learn more about our company, our projects and clients, and what is happening at NCE.

Interested applicants should submit their cover letter and resume to our applicant center for review. A writing sample will be requested as part of the evaluation process.

  • Demonstrate excellent written, verbal, and graphical communication
  • Demonstrate a passion for noise and vibration control
  • Are motivated to identify and pursue internal and external professional growth opportunities, including areas outside their specific discipline.

Education

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Acoustics, or other related field, preferably with coursework in acoustics and/or vibrations.

Requirements

  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience in acoustic consulting, noise assessments, and noise control is required.
  • A demonstrated understanding of sound and vibration control in a range of industrial, environmental, and other commercial environments.
  • Experience with positive client interaction.
  • Experience in leading and managing noise control projects, individually and with a team.
