Job summary

GM Financial, the captive auto-finance subsidiary of General Motors, is seeking a Senior Credit Analyst in a hybrid work environment. You will assess credit risks, analyze histories, and decide on credit extensions, interfacing with dealers and internal teams to optimize profitability and compliance.

You will build dealer relationships, ensure documentation quality, and monitor performance against goals in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Analyze credit data to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit.
  • Make decisions to approve or deny the extension of credit within set credit authority established by senior management and State/Federal laws.
  • Develop dealer relationships to meet volume objectives and credit quality.
  • Capture automotive finance contracts meeting profitability criteria for pricing and performance.
  • Coordinate with branches and departments to maximize efficiency.
  • Ensure queues are processed to defined service levels.
  • Conduct joint dealer calls with the Dealer Relationship Manager as needed.
  • Perform outbound telemarketing calls to dealer customers.
  • Set and monitor monthly goals for assigned dealers.
  • Ensure proper documentation is received on all deals.

Responsibilities
About the Role

The Senior Credit Analyst is responsible for researching and analyzing credit risks, assessing credit history, and approving or denying extension of credit to potential customers. This team member has contact with other company departments, as well as automobile dealers and other finance and credit sources.

In this role you will
  • Analyze credit data to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit.
  • Make decisions to approve or deny the extension of credit within set credit authority established by senior management and State/Federal laws.
  • Develop sufficient dealer relationships that ensure volume objectives and credit quality.
  • Capture automotive finance contracts that meet Americredit/GM Financial profitability criteria for pricing and performance.
  • Ensure branch office cooperation with other departments to maximize efficiency within the Company.
  • Ensure all queues are worked to acceptable service levels.
  • Conduct joint dealer calls with Dealer Relationship Manager (DRM) on an as needed basis.
  • Perform outbound telemarketing calls to the dealer customer.
  • Establish and track monthly goals for assigned dealers.
  • Ensure proper documentation is received on all deals.

Additional Knowledge And Skills

Working effectively within an AI enabled environment:

  • Ability to use AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) to support daily work
  • Skills in evaluating AI outputs for accuracy, compliance, and bias
  • Experience integrating AI into workflows to improve efficiency or insights
  • Familiarity with AI assisted research, summarization, and content generation
  • Understanding of responsible AI use, including ethics and data protection

Work Experience & Education
  • 2-3 years of underwriting/sales in the automotive industry Pref
  • High School Diploma or equivalent Required

At GM Financial, we strive for transparency in all aspects of our business, including pay equity. This is the GM Financial pay range for this role and job level. The exact salary and compensation will vary based on factors like knowledge, skills, experience, and education.This role is eligible to participate in a performance-based incentive plan. Full time employees are eligible to participate in health benefits on day one of employment.
