The Johnson Controls’ Accelerated Commercial Excellence (ACE) Program is an early career 18-month sales development program designed to transform recent graduates into skilled channel or product sales individuals. Over the course of the program, participants receive instructor‑led intensive training, hands‑on customer experience and mentorship to build technical expertise and sales acumen, preparing them for impactful sales roles within our organization. This program is designed to prepare candidates for product channel sales across seven different Johnson Controls’ business units with a single cohort, summer hiring cadence.
In this particular role, you will be supporting Johnson Controls’ Fire Detection (FD) business unit. We’re constantly advancing safety and security by creating smarter ways to save lives, improve business, and protect people where they live and work. Fire safety is a fundamental mandate for every enterprise, facility, campus, and municipality. It begins with fire detection via sensors, initiating devices, annunciators, and control units connected to integrated systems.
During the first six months of the program, the entire ACE cohort will be based out of Milwaukee WI working at Johnson Controls’ HQ office in the northwest suburb of Glendale WI. At the end of month six, you will be required to relocate to a predetermined assigned location where upon program graduation you will transition to an outside or field sales role covering specific accounts in your territory. For Summer 2027 we have one (1) available location with its respective FD product brand:
Southeast (Any major city in Florida) - Autocall
Complete all required ACE foundational sales training
Establish monthly cadence with Area Sales Managers and Regional Sales Managers for development progress and participate in business reviews
Provide technical and commercial aid to FD outside sales personnel (called Area Sales Managers) and customers using internal tools
Assist sales team with CRM opportunity pipeline management and account hygiene
Create, analyze and customize sales reports and dashboards using PowerBI
Promote our Solution Navigator self‑ordering customer portal and report feedback
Develop internal relationships and enable cross‑department collaboration with sales specialists, tech support reps, marketing coordinators, inside sales reps, etc.
Develop customer relationships with managed and maintained accounts to generate new business opportunities, support strategic product or account growth initiatives and report feedback
Provide problem‑solving assistance to customers when issues arise such as order management, quality concerns, pricing discrepancies, product selection support, etc.
Prepare, practice and lead multiple customer‑facing product presentations (Subject Matter Expert or Lunch and Learns)
Attend frequent training sessions to build deep Fire Defection product knowledge, industry/market awareness and sales process expertise
Travel to manufacturing plants, R&D facilities and customer locations for live training and sales shadowing
Bachelor’s degree minimum (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical or Computer Engineering Degree highly preferred)
Recent graduate or undergraduate senior expecting to graduate between Apr 2027 – Jun 2027. Program starts in Jun 2027
Proficiency with Microsoft 365 programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
Must have the ability to be inMilwaukee, WI(Glendale WI) for the first six months of the program, then relocate to the predetermined permanent base (South east – Florida)
U.S. citizen or legal right to work in the U.S.
Technical sales internship experience or certification
Excellent communication skills
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
Available to travel up to 25% – dependent upon your assignments
Experience with any CRM and PowerBI tools
