Job summary

RYSS Texas Public Schools at Broadway—Houston is seeking an ACE Activity Leader to provide a safe, structured after-school experience for Kindergarten–Grade 5 students. Plan and facilitate academic, enrichment, and social activities, maintain records, and support supervision and dismissal under ACE grant guidelines.

Position may include PreK with eligible siblings. The role is part-time and grant-funded, with responsibilities tied to the ACE program and campus administration, located at RYSS

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; college coursework or relevant certification preferred.
• Experience with elementary-age children in after-school or youth-development settings preferred.
• Ability to facilitate structured activities and manage groups.
• Strong communication, organization, reliability, and teamwork.
• Background checks, training, and documentation must be completed before working with students.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Job Title: ACE Activity Leader

POSITION SUMMARY

The ACE Activity Leader provides a safe, structured, and engaging after-school experience for students in Kindergarten through Grade 5. The Activity Leader plans and facilitates academic, enrichment, recreational, and social-emotional activities; maintains accurate program records; supports student supervision and dismissal; and helps ensure that campus implementation meets ACE grant requirements and RYSS expectations. Prekindergarten students may participate when enrolled with an eligible sibling.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor's degree, college coursework, or relevant certification preferred.
• Experience working with elementary-age children in a school, childcare, after-school, camp, recreation, tutoring, or youth-development setting preferred.
• Ability to facilitate structured activities and manage groups of students effectively.
• Strong communication, organization, reliability, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to complete required background checks, training, and documentation before working with students.
• Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES

• Knowledge of child development, positive behavior supports, and age-appropriate instructional and enrichment practices.
• Ability to follow lesson plans, activity guides, schedules, safety procedures, and grant documentation requirements.
• Ability to build positive relationships while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
• Ability to respond to emergencies, follow directions, and exercise sound judgment.
• Basic technology skills for attendance, communication, records, and program reporting.
