Job summary

University at Buffalo Campus Dining & Shops is seeking an Accounts Receivable Specialist to manage incoming payments, process invoices, and maintain AR records in a fast-paced university environment.

The role reports to the Accounting Manager within the Accounting department. Typical hours are Monday–Friday, with occasional Saturday work during month/year-end closings; candidates should have an associate degree in accounting or related field.

Qualifications

  • Experience as Accounts Receivable Specialist or similar role.
  • General Ledger experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and accounting software such as Sage Intacct.
  • High accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Generate and send invoices to customers.
  • Bill, collect, and report by deadlines, incl. vouchers and inter-departmental invoices.
  • Weekly compilation of gratuities for payroll.
  • Follow up on, collect, and allocate payments.
  • Monitor customer accounts for non-payments and irregularities.
  • Research and resolve payment discrepancies.
  • Generate and distribute monthly customer statements.
  • Maintain AR files and records.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual receivable reports.
  • Handle special projects as requested by management.
